Head of Sound & Vision, British Library


Richard Ranft is Head of Sound & Vision at the British Library, where he has worked for thirty years, with responsibility for seven million sound recordings, 280,000 moving image items and 750m newspaper pages, and for bringing these items together in digital form to create new services for users of the collections. He serves on the boards of the Europeana Foundation, the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives, and the EUscreen XL project, and he is the Coordinator for the 2014-17 Europeana Sounds project.
